Well, I’ve decided to put my knowledge of video games to use to provide for future generations of gamers (and us old fogies). This year , or at least this fall the Xbox game selection has really widened. With the continued development for online gaming as well as voice command recognition the boon was on. Now you can play almost any sport you wish via broadband. I think that EA has made a big mistake by going exclusively with the PS2 for it’s online offering. But Microsoft has it’s own online franchise, the XSN Sports line. Hey it’s no Madden 2004, but it still offers a lot. More as time allows.

Medal of Honor: The Rising Sun (Xbox)
Okay so I ran out and bought this one shortly after it came out. I had really enjoyed the first edition of this series and expected much improvement for this game. I was sadly mistaken! I did enjoy the Pearl Harbor scene in the beginning of the game. But it was no where near as hard to beat as the Normandy Landing from the first game. The graphics are still Xbox quality, especially some of the lighting.
You are still pretty much riding a rail with this one. There is mostly one way to arrive at the end of each level. There is the occasional side path to help break the linear gaming. So just sit back and expect to do things pretty much the way the game developers intended. The AI for the enemies is pretty sad as well. You can almost always absorb a couple of shots while taking aim to fire while they reload. There are ample ammunition and health refills. There is a multiplayer option, but I was pretty much bored by the time I finished. I couldn’t believe that it was over. I finished this one in less than 20 hours and then traded it to a friend for some technical help.

Deus Ex (Xbox)
I played the first version of this game on the PC around three years ago. It was totally intriguing. It had no specific paths built in, multiple character development paths and cool technology. That was a lot to build three years ago.
Well now they have released the long awaited sequel. This one picks 20 years after the last one ends. This is a first person shooter with awesome lighting and cool weapons. You are a modified human using nanobot technology. These “upgrades” add different abilities depending on which options you wish to develop. There is Stealth and Bot Domination for instance. You could choose to blast your way through a group of enemy or stalk by using a cloaking upgrade. Or you could “dominate” one of the Security Bots and use it to destroy the enemy.
I haven’t finished this one yet, but it looks like a definite “recommended” title so far.
