DISCover PC Console wins!

The new DISCover Console from ApexTreme has won Best of CES 2004 Winner: Home Audio and Video.

The baby takes your PC games to your TV or big screen with a 40GB hard drive, six USB ports, Ethernet, and a 56Kbps modem. The ApeXtreme could be just another media center PC for the living room. But this revolutionary box brings game console functionality to PC games.

The ApeXtreme uses Digital Interactive Systems's DISCover Drop and Play engine that allows gamers to insert a PC game and play it almost immediately. The engine installs patches and "major mods" for more than 2,000 games automatically, "like TiVo or ReplayTV," says Digital Interactive Systems' Loren Kaiser. "We're trying to take some of the pains out of playing PC games."

In addition to transforming PC gaming from a sit-forward to a sit-back experience, the ApeXtreme features a progressive-scan DVD player and supports DVD+/-R/RW discs, DVI, RCA and S-video inputs, and HDTV-compatible component video.
